Although Apple has officially claimed that the latest version of Final Cut Pro 10.1(Final Cut Pro X) is compatible with XAVC and XAVC S. However, users from fcp forums still complained that they had no luck to import Sony 4K XAVC or 4K XAVC S codec from Sony AX-100/AX-1 or AX-33 to FCP X. They think it is actually a lack of FCP X support for the 4K XAVC or 4K XAVC S codec according to many tests.

Although FCP X does not support 4K XAVC or 4K XAVC S codec very well, however, it has no difficulty to ingest other video codecs such as H.264 or MPEG-4, especially the Apple Prores Codec, which is specially developed by Apple for high performance and high quality post-production editing in Final Cut Pro X.
